Pick Up Lines That Could Get You Slapped In The Face

A lot of guys think you're supposed to use some type of "cute pick up line" when you try to approach a girl.

Before I give you pick up lines to use on girls, I want to say that walking up to random women and trying to start conversations is a tough thing to do for most guys. I understand that. It requires confidence, and the ability to be a smooth talker, to approach women, engage them in a friendly, interesting conversation, and get their phone number. If the thought of randomly approaching women and striking up conversations makes you feel anxious, I understand that this process can be hard at first, and I've been there myself.

But the bottom line is, you've got to learn how to approach women if you're going to expand your social life and elevate your dating life. I know that most guys are intimidated by the thought of approaching women, especially in public places. Most men would rather have a fight with a UFC champion than approach a woman. If this is how you feel, then you should change your ways so that you can start having the success that you desire.

What you need to know is that your fear of rejection can be overcome, and it can be overcome simply and easily. If one of the reasons you're scared of approaching women is the fact that things can go wrong, then guess what? That's life, and things do go wrong! It really doesn't matter in the long run. What matters is that you have the confidence and courage to walk up to that hottie, introduce yourself, and take a shot.

One thing that you can do to help out with approaching women is practice in the mirror. Talking to yourself in the mirror will allow you to see how you look and to build up the confidence you need to approach someone. If you can first be comfortable with yourself, then you will more than likely be comfortable with talking with a woman too.

Don't bother listening to any "expert" who says it's possible to seduce a woman within seconds of meeting her. I don't recommend trying this as this is the fastest way to get a drink thrown into your face. But when you do approach a woman, you need to have no fear of rejection. Not being intimated of rejection is a skill that you need to develop, and you can begin by walking up to women and asking them a simple question.

I suggest taking some "batting practice" -- approach some random women and ask them a sincere question. Your question could be if they know what time it is or if they know where the nearest Burger king is. This will help you to get into the habit of naturally approaching women so when the time comes to ask a woman for her phone number, it won't be as difficult to do.

If you can learn how not to be afraid of rejection, then you increase your chances of having success with women by a long shot. Keep in mind that when you're practicing these techniques, you shouldn't only try to approach beautiful women. You can walk up to any girl and ask her where the nearest mall or supermarket is. You'd be amazed at the responses and some of these women will even start up conversations with you!

Do cheesy or cute pick up lines truly work when you're trying to approach women? Yet when we hear the term "pickup line," we tend to visualize some sleazy dude wearing a gold chain displayed across his hairy chest. As a Barry White song plays on the soundtrack, he lurks in the night club hunting for his next conquest...

He goes to approach the girl...looks her up and down, like a hungry predator eyeballing a slab of meat...and delivers a cheesy pick up line that causes her to roll her eyes (or throw her drink in his face).

I'm speaking about pick up lines like these...

"I sure hope you know CPR, because you're taking my breath away."

"Hey, can I borrow a quarter? [What for?] I want to call my mom and tell her I just met the woman of my dreams."

"Hey, can I borrow a map? Because I keep on getting lost in your eyes."

"Somebody better call God, cuz he's missing an angel -- so what time do you have to be back in heaven?"

"You owe me a drink, miss. [Why?] Because the moment I saw you, I dropped mine."

"Hello. Cupid called. He says to tell you that he needs my heart back."

"If I could rearrange the alphabet, I would put U and I together."

"Your legs must be tired because you've been running through my mind all night."

"If this bar is a meat market, you must be the prime rib."

"I was so mesmerized by your beauty that I ran into that wall over there...I'm going to need your name and number for insurance purposes."

Now, not all pick up lines are THAT corny. Here are a few that women may actually find charming or flattering -- IF you follow them up correctly (which I'll explain how to do in a moment).

"Would you touch me so I can tell my friends I've been touched by an angel?"

"Can you pull this heart-shaped arrow out of my back, because a little kid with wings just shot me."

"What does it feel like to be the cutest girl in the room?"

"You must be a hell of a thief, because you stole my heart from across the room."

(Note: Don't use this pick up line on women who are extremely beautiful and KNOW it. This line is more effective when you approach women who appear to be a bit shy and don't have a stuck-up attitude.)

Now here's the next type of pick up lines. I call these...

You'll want to be extremely cautious when using the following lines when you approach women. While they might get an amused reaction (specifically if she's a drunken nymphomaniac), you're equally likely to get hit. (Or if she has a steroid-crazed boyfriend lurking nearby.) Like I said, be careful...

"Do you know what has 142 teeth and holds back the Incredible Hulk? [What?] My zipper."

"That outfit would look great...in a crumpled heap next to my bed."

"That's a nice set of legs, what time do they open?"

The Truth About Pick Up Lines

So are pick up lines something to be mocked? Would any REAL pick up artist deign to use them? I have authored a few books on picking up girls, and I've taught thousands of guys how to "break the ice" with women and seduce them with effective conversation. And personally, I think pick up lines are usually way too obvious.

I teach a style of approaching women that I refer to as "going under the radar". What this generally means is that you say (or ask) something clever when you approach women -- a comment or question that catches her by surprise and engages her attention, without signalling your sexual interest. These methods of approaching women feel more casual and natural to both you and her.

I like to approach the girl and ask her a clever question, one that females are naturally going to have an opinion about.

Opener #1: "Hey, I have to get back to my friends but let me ask you something real quick -- would you freak out if your boyfriend was invited to a bachelor party and you knew there would be strippers at the party? Because my friend Jennifer is sort of freaking out about this right now."

Opener #2: "Hey, help me settle a debate I'm having with my friends. How long do you need to be dating someone before you change your status on Facebook from "single" to "in a relationship?" Because my friend Jennifer has been going out with a guy for a month and SHE thinks it's an exclusive thing, but he hasn't changed his "single" status and she's wondering if she should say something..."

These methods of approaching women are particularly effective because they're based on what I call "relationship grey areas." Men and women tend to have their own ideas about what's allowed in a relationship, and what is unacceptable. Here's another line you can use when you approach women: "does it count as cheating if a guy has lunch with his ex-girlfriend, and doesn't tell his new girlfriend about it?"

When you approach a woman, your goal with the opening line is to get a positive response that makes her want to talk to you further. Here's another line I use to approach women, which always seems to get a good reaction:

"Do I look gay? Because this dude was TOTALLY hitting on me in the bathroom a minute ago. Do you think it's because of my shirt?" (Or, "is it the way my butt looks in these jeans?")

Those don't count as "pick up lines," really. But does this mean pick up lines are, by definition, a bad thing?

In some cases, I have used some of the pick up lines I gave you above -- and because I was able to transition into a fun conversation, I was able to get the girl into bed that night!

I showed a sense of humor by "confessing" that I had used a corny line to try to pick her up. After I said it, I followed up with "I realize that probably sounded like a pick up line...but I want to talk to you for a minute and I couldn't think of what else to say. My name's Dean..."

At that point, I used my Mack Tactics -- I asked a few "strategic" questions to get her in a fun mindset, and sharing information about herself...I used techniques like "Cold Reads" and "Hypotheticals"... and throughout the conversation, I managed the flow and hit the right buttons to make her feel curiosity and attraction.

On occasion the world's cheesiest pick up line can actually be a fun way to kick off the conversation. It's all about knowing how to smoothly switch into the conversation, and never taking yourself too seriously.

And hey, this one has worked for me several times...

"You're so beautiful that you made me forget my pick up line."

(Women always find that one cute and funny!)
